Helena Territt Keynote Speaker at A Meeting of Minds Winning Advisers North

A Meeting of Minds is a day long forum run by Owen James Events, with a networking dinner and drinks the evening before and is a blend of keynote sessions geared to encouraging new thinking – typically from outside of the industry, roundtables – small facilitated groups addressing a carefully researched agenda. The whole day is Chatham House and therefore participants are able to speak openly and freely and plenty of networking opportunities including a formal seated luncheon.

The event brought together the owner managers of financial advisory firms which typically have ÂŁ150M - ÂŁ500M funds under management and between 3 and 20 RIs. The agenda examined all aspects of business, focusing on productivity and profitability, as well as overarching trends within the industry as a whole.

Helena’s Keynote “The Power of Thinking Differently”

excerpt:

“I would like to tell you a quick story. I’d like to persuade you that disrupting the status quo is the key to performance. I’m going to give you a bit of evidence to support my claim and then I will challenge you to embrace the weird parts of yourself.”

Helena was also provided the opening presentation on the Roundtable Session: “Talent Contest. How to attract and retain the best candidates in today’s competitive recruitment market”, which included discussion on:

  • Promoting a modern environment will attract the best talent, but also retain them for longer

  • What makes you stand out from the crowd? Highlight the benefits of being part of your firm

  • The costs of wasted salary, training, recruiting, loss of productivity and staff turnover on bad hires

  • How long you should be prepared to spend on finding the right people and then onboarding

  • The costs of FCA fees, training and other costs such as software licences, office space and equipment
