“Why Hatched?”
that old problem of what to call your business. Hatched is all about coaching, speaking and brilliant brains doing things differently.
HATCHED OUT
Hatched is an obvious metaphor. My first experience of being coached years ago was transformative and I remember telling my coach that I felt like I was the liquid soup inside a chrysalis, waiting to be rearranged into something else.
So far, so clichéd. There are thousands of coaches who have butterflies on their logos and plenty of chrysalis coaching monikers.
BIRDS HATCH
I like the link to birds. You can’t be this tall, with a nose like mine and not get compared you to an avian every now and again. I especially love magpies and corvids, who can use tools and are the only non-mammal who can recognise themselves in a mirror.
Their sharp intelligence arises even though their brains are built in a way that is fundamentally different from those of mammals. They use a portion of their brain that has no direct counterpart to humans, parts that we discounted because they didn’t fit the location of intelligence in the human brain. They are different thinkers.
THROUGH THE HATCH
Being coached felt like putting my head through a hatch or taking the red pill and entering the Matrix. You might have been there; suddenly everything makes sense and you can see the water in which you are swimming.
I went through the hatch, readjusted my perspective and learned how to work in a different way.
HATCHED A PLOT
Hatched - a transitive verb, to bring into being. I want to change the status quo, to make the world work differently, to help everyone to be more authentic and avoid the pressures of conforming. We need diversity of thought and creative innovation in our organisations and governments now more than ever.
