THE POWER OF THINKING
DIFFERENTLY
UNLOCKING YOUR TEAM’S FULL POTENTIAL
A half-day management workshop for getting the best from every thinking style on your team. Practical tools for people-leaders who want to unlock the full range of talent in their organisation, and build the psychological safety in which it thrives.
THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A NORMAL BRAIN
The human brain contains about 86 billion neurons, forming over 100 trillion connections, pruned in a unique way in every individual. Often, in fields such as IT, science, academia and the creative arts, unusual brilliance comes with similarly unusual ways of thinking and performing. Yet most workplaces are designed to get things done in one predictable way, so a significant proportion of talented employees are set up to underperform.
The Power of Thinking Differently helps leaders change that. It is not an HR compliance course; it is a fun, interactive workshop about the day-to-day craft of managing people, helping them uncover their potential and work at their best, built around the two skills that drive real cultural change: curiosity and listening.
WHO IT'S FOR
The Power of Thinking Differently is for managers and leaders responsible for brilliant, different thinkers. It's for you if:
- You lead people with a range of working styles, and you want to bring out the best in all of them.
- You want practical, day-to-day tools, not a legal briefing or a compliance course.
- You want to build the psychological safety in which every kind of thinker can contribute.
No prior knowledge is assumed. The workshop deliberately excludes recruitment, onboarding and talent planning, which typically sit with HR; an overview and further links are in the guide.
WORKSHOP CONTENT
A half-day, experiential workshop covering six core areas:
Moving beyond weakness and under-performance to a strength-based, context-dependent view of how to get things done.
The commercial case for valuing different thinkers: diversity of thought, innovation, talent retention and better leadership.
Building the habit of curiosity and non-judgement.
Identifying and deploying individual strengths rather than managing to a generalist norm.
Creating the conditions in which people feel safe to contribute and work at the top of their potential.
Practical, low-cost adjustments that benefit your workforce and allow a variety of routes to optimal functioning.
Participants also receive a 66-page workbook, with two-minute takeaways, templates, a glossary and links for continued learning, so they can engage fully without needing to take notes.
WHAT MANAGERS WILL COME AWAY WITH
- Feel better equipped to support the different ways their team members think and perform at their best.
- Understand how to direct their team differently to achieve business outcomes.
- Have practical tools they can apply immediately.
- Hold a more informed, constructive perspective on how things should be done to achieve excellence.
- Have experience in methods of cultivating psychological safety.
